# Glossary

**Associated record / association**\
A record HubSpot has linked to the current record, e.g. deals associated with a company.

**Building block**\
An element you add to a card, e.g. a heading, table, button, or input field. A building block may consist of several HubSpot components behind the scenes.

**Card**\
The complete UI extension shown on a HubSpot record or in Help desk. Throughout this knowledge base we simply say "card".

**Designer**\
The workspace with the palette on the left, the card in the middle, and settings on the right.

**Draft**\
The most recently saved editable version. A draft does not affect the version that is live until you publish again.

**Dynamic value / binding**\
A value that is fetched when the card is shown, e.g. the company name, the number of associated deals, or an answer from an input field. The opposite is a fixed value.

**External system / connector**\
A connection to data or actions outside HubSpot, e.g. Dinero. The connection is managed by Card Studio.

**Field / property**\
A HubSpot property on a record, e.g. "Company name", "Deal stage", or a custom property. The "internal name" is HubSpot's technical identifier for the property.

**Flow**\
A card split into two or more steps with back-and-forward navigation and optional actions on submit.

**Live**\
The published version that HubSpot shows to users.

**Object**\
The type of record the card appears on, e.g. contacts, companies, deals, tickets, or a custom object.

**Placement**\
The area in HubSpot where the card appears: middle column (tab), sidebar, preview panel, or Help desk sidebar.

**Record**\
A specific contact, company, deal, ticket, or instance of a custom object.

**Rollback / roll back**\
Making an earlier published version live again. The draft is not changed.

**Tone**\
The semantic color of e.g. a status chip or an alert: Neutral, Success, Warning, Critical, or Info.

**Version**\
An immutable snapshot created when you publish. Versions can be switched live via rollback.
