# Troubleshooting

# Troubleshooting

Start from the visible symptom and check the items in order.

## A building block is dimmed

The card's placement does not allow the underlying HubSpot component. This especially applies to Property list, Associated records, Pipeline status, and Report in the CRM sidebar.

Change the placement, or use an alternative building block. See [Placements and objects](/cards/placements).

## I cannot publish

Click the issue indicator in the designer toolbar and fix the first flagged building block. Also check that the card has at least one building block and does not collide with another live card.

See [Publishing errors](/troubleshooting/publishing).

## A dynamic value is empty or wrong

Check the data source, the record's actual field value, the associations, and the portal connection. In preview you may be seeing demo data rather than data from the record you have in mind.

See [Data and display errors](/troubleshooting/data).

## A button does not do what I expect

Check the order and targets of its actions. The sequence stops at the first error, and a link must come last. Test with a HubSpot user who has the required permissions.

See [Actions](/building/actions).

## Continue or Submit does not advance

A required field or a format rule is failing on the active step. Check the error text under the input field. A checkbox must be `true`, not just have a default text value.

If a conditional step is hidden, the flow only navigates through the visible steps.

## An image is broken

Open the image address in a private browser window. It must be a valid, publicly accessible HTTPS URL with no login, expired token, or hotlink blocking.

## The card looks different in HubSpot

Check that you are looking at the same placement, object, and live version as in the designer. Preview uses the same component mapping, but the real portal can have different data, permissions, and width variations.

Publish the draft if you have only edited it. A saved draft does not change the live version.

## My latest changes are gone

Check whether the status reached **Saved** before the tab was closed. Open the right card, not a copy. Rollback only changes the live version, not the draft.

On a revision conflict, reload the card and redo the latest change instead of trying to overwrite a newer revision.
