Row/column

Row/column is a structure container. Use it to place content side by side or stack it vertically as one group.

Availability

Row/column can be used in all placements. It can be nested inside other structure blocks, as long as the card’s total depth does not exceed four levels.

Add and configure

A new building block starts with two text blocks. Drag other building blocks into the container and move or remove the default texts. Choose a Direction:
  • Side by side — a horizontal row;
  • Stacked — a vertical column.
The container must have at least one and can have up to 20 direct children.

Data, rules, and steps

A rule and step assignment on the container control the whole group. The children can also have their own rules and steps. Avoid conflicting combinations, for example a container on step 1 with a child on step 2, because the child never gets a visible context.

Limitations and tips

The schema supports spacing, alignment, and distribution, but the inspector only shows direction. New containers use medium spacing. Side by side works best with a few short elements. In the sidebar you should normally use a column, because long texts, fields, and buttons would otherwise get squeezed. Interactive building blocks can be placed in a Row/column, but not if the container itself sits inside a Repeater and would thereby make them repeated.
